Learning Adventures?
Project-based learning appeals to many educators. Implementing PBL is difficult for some and even harder to sustain in a meaningful fashion. Learning adventures is a stance towards making PBL the main course in an educationally nutritious diet.

Learning Adventures is a new approach to teaching and curriculum development that elevates project-based learning in the context of modern resources, tools, computational technology, and pedagogy.

The Learning Adventures Approach
The only way to create high-quality and engaging learning adventures is by experiencing an adventure yourself. This workshop will invite educators to choose a learning adventure to explore in order to begin the process of designing learning adventures for students. The richest learning adventures are suitable at multiple grade levels and across subject domains.
This approach is recursive in nature. Learning Adventures require educators to engage in a continuous cycle of invention, curation, research, and extension that is receptive to the intentions of children. Steps in the process include:
- Experience learning in a particular domain
- Collect resources
- Curate objects to think with for students
Prepare the learning environment - Prompt students to dive deep into personally meaningful projects
- Transcend the expectations of the curriculum
